Book More Brides Mobile

mobile website design for wedding vendor
The owners of the hugely successful website, Book More Brides wanted to create a mobile version of their website that only had select content on it that would appeal to a mobile browsing experience.  We created the mobile header, navigation options and page layouts for this mobile version.  Not only could people read articles on the mobile version of the website, but they could also send an email from their phone via the Contact Us form!

Solutions Needed:

  • Mobile website version of the website
  • Create custom header
  • Develop the navigation
  • Customize the Home Page
  • Create a Contact Us page that would work on a mobile phone
  • Integrate their blog posts on the mobile version of the website.

Why blogging is like building a fire

http://www.flickr.com/photos/exalthim/2562959725/

Clients always ask me why it’s important to blog and I give them the example of building a fire.  As a child, I was known to “play” with fire on occasion.  I found that the more wood that I threw on the fire, the larger the fire grew.  And the larger the fire was, the longer it burned.

Google has changed the standards on what’s important on your website over the past few years. A company used to be able to build a website and it would act as a sales brochure, never to be touched again. But Google changed this approach. Google loves a website that has “fresh and relevant content”. This means, the more content you put on your website, the more Google has the ability to see your key words and rank you higher. If your website only has a few static pages, then Google has nothing to keep it coming back to reindex the site.  Plus, your viewers won’t have anything new to see on your site.

And this brings us back to the fire analogy.  Just like building a fire requires continually adding wood to sustain it, so does building your website’s blog page.  You want to continually add content to your website to sustain it.  Similarly, you want to add wood to a fire so it grows larger and can be visible for those around you.  I highly recommend adding content to your website (blogs, news, updates, etc) so it becomes easier to see from a distance.

So go ahead, start adding content to your website on a regular basis and your website will grow larger and will quickly attract both Google and people from almost any distance, plus there is no risk of getting burned on your website…which is a good thing.

January & February update

Each week I have full intentions of updating my website with news, competed websites and more…but I’m always working on my client’s websites.  I’ve been busy working on a variety of website such as: a manufacturing website, two websites for an author, 3 websites for someone in the wedding industry and 2 websites for a local educator.  Yes, it’s been a busy few months here, but I am working on some updates to my website to showcase the projects I’ve been working on, which will also promote my clients, with whom I’ve had the honor of working with.

Designing a photography based website

We work with a broad base of clients, but love working with people that are passionate about their business.  True Focus Media just landed a website redesign project with a prominent photographer based out of the Fort Worth, Texas area.  They want to merge their website and blog sites together into one seamless website.  This new website will showcase their amazing photography abilities through several galleries, blogs and media integration.  Having all of this combined into one website will enable them to have advertising and other revenue generating strategies.  I’ll keep the details to a minium for now, but will keep you updated on the progress.

If you would like to merge your website and blog into one seamless website, let True Focus Media help.  We love working on projects of various scope and size.  We offer many options for design, blogging, media integration, and much more.  The best thing is that once we’re complete, you’ll be able to manage your own content by logging in to the admin area.  One of our main tools is through the extremely popular CMS, WordPress.

What have I been up to?

It’s been a BUSY last few months.  I’ve been working on some awesome new website and and projects that I’m really excited about.  On top of that I’ve had to deal with bad weather, losing power at my office and some unforeseen construction!  This summer seems like it’s been the busiest I’ve had in a LONG time.

I’m currently working on a website redesign for a local church.  They want to have an updated look as well as the ability to log into their website and add content.  The music pastor wants to have a password protected area where he can have his choir members listen to and download music so they can hear the upcoming songs.  They also want their sermons cataloged and placed in the iTunes podcast directory.  We selected the layout and design that they liked the best and I’ll be adding content, colors and photos to make the site an online place to share information with the community.

I’m also working on a website for a local manufacturing company.  We’re not only creating a custom website for them with several custom features, but we also creating 10 product videos that will be on display on their new website.  Once of the reasons they, chose us was because the website platform we use is VERY video friendly.  I also created a log in area for all of their international sales reps to get behind the scenes product information that the general public can’t see.  Pretty cool if you ask me!

Several weeks ago I was approached by some good friends of mine to create WordPress training series for a large group of wedding vendors.  Over the next few weeks, I’ll be create a course outline and videos that walk through each aspect of setting up a website for their wedding business.  I’m excited to help these wedding professionals createa great looking and highly functioning website.

I’m also working on several other projects right now, but I’ll talk about those in the coming weeks.

If you’d like a new website, than go to my “Contact” page and let me know how I can help you!

True Focus Media interviewed by BookMoreBrides.com about the benefits of WordPress for wedding websites

A few months ago, I met Jeff and Stephanie Padovani through social media (who says social media doesn’t work?). We really hit it off and were able to exchange ideas on marketing, technology and websites. They recently contacted me to see if they could interview me about web design, WordPress, blogging, marketing and how to make it all work together. They work with wedding vendors and help them to Book More Brides (found at BookMoreBrides.com).  Over the past 10 years I’ve worked with a lot of wedding vendors, have done a lot of wedding video and have written in a bridal magazine over the past year and have written about web design and media.  Stephanie and Jeff asked their audience for questions and we were flooded with great questions ranging from who to use for hosting (I use Dreamhost.com), to my thoughts on why not to use Flash on your website.   We even talked about how to integrate social media, blogging and SEO.  I had a blast talking with them and sharing incites to their listeners.  I wish we could have covered them all but there were almost 100 questions that people wrote in and asked.

I love being interviewed and enjoy sharing why WordPress is such a great service and how I help my clients to build great websites.  I’ll post a link to the audio interview in the coming days when it comes out.

Working on a website for local manufacturing company

I started working on a website for a local manufacturing company.  They are based here in Ohio, but have sales reps all over the country.

I’ll be incorporating about 10 custom videos that we’re creating which highlight their products.  These videos will be highlighted on their home page, as well as on the individual product pages.  I’ll also be creating a custom flip-book which will incorporate the videos, products and will also have interactive elements that will tie the website, videos and flip-book together.  This flip-book will be given to all the sales reps who will use it on their laptops and iPads to showcase the products that this company sells.

I’m excited to serve them through my web design services and will keep you posted on the progress.

Grammy Book Series – Testimonial

I have a new website that I am so pleased with!  I interviewed several people before choosing True Focus Media.  I picked them because he talked in terms that I could understand.  He did not talk above my level of computer expertise.  He had a hard task because I was uncertain of what I wanted by way of a website.  It  kept evolving and we made a lot of changes along the way.  Each time I asked for a change he came through with what I requested, even when I changed my mind and contradicted myself.   He was professional in every way and brought the project in on time and on budget.  I am very happy to have him on my professional team and no doubt will call him again and again as the needs of my business grow and change.

Find-Your-Joy.com Testimonial

Jeff was professional, patient and efficient in building my company’s website.  He quickly adjusted any changes I had, explained in detail items that I didn’t understand, and taught me how to manage certain aspects of my website myself.  He was able to accomplish everything that I asked of him.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product.

Latest Website Completed

I was called a few months ago about creating a website for an author in Nashville, TN.  I was excited because the author, Laura, write books for grandparents and their grand-kids.  This meant I could be a bit creative in the process and have some fun with the site.  Laura and I worked together on a color scheme, layout, social media details and website details.  I even helped buy the domain name for www.GrammyBookSeries.com.  We were even able to create a flip-book on the website that showed the first 10 pages.  That way people could read a portion of her book before buying it.  I put in links on her website so people could buy her book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble’s websites.

I think this website turned out really well.  Since launching, Laura has had a multitude of people comment on her site and interact with about her book.  She’ll be releasing more books soon.  It was a lot of fun working on this site.

If you need a website for you business, than let me work with you to create a site that looks great and has the functionality you want.

Beginning work on 2 websites

I had the privilege of picking up 2 new clients in early January.  I’m working on both and am excited to see how each is able to use their new website.  One client is an author who will use the website to sell her books and content, while the other client will be marketing travel services.

Stay tuned for updates on these projects.  I’ll post the sites when they are finished.
